Our infrastructure maintenance programme focuses on preserving and improving the essential elements that keep Howick running smoothly. Regular upkeep of roads and pavements ensures safe travel for pedestrians and motorists, while maintaining gutters and verges helps prevent flooding and enhances the aesthetic appeal of our town. Pothole repairs are prioritised to minimise damage to vehicles and improve road safety. Additionally, we ensure that community facilities and signage are well-maintained, providing clear guidance and preserving the functionality of shared spaces.
In collaboration with uMngeni Municipality, we have initiated several projects to complement their efforts and address specific needs within Howick. These projects include:
• Repair and Installation of Kerbstones and Gutters: Ensuring proper drainage and preventing erosion along our roads.
• Pavement Repairs: Creating safe and accessible walkways for pedestrians.
• Pothole Repairs: Addressing road surface issues to improve safety and reduce vehicle damage.
• Replacing Missing Stop Signs: Enhancing road safety by ensuring all traffic signs are visible and functional.
• General Beautification: Keeping our town clean and attractive through litter removal, landscaping, and other improvements.
• Anti-Dumping Barrier Installation: Protecting the uMngeni Riverbank along Morling Street from illegal dumping, preserving our natural environment and preventing pollution.
