Developing Local Talent, Building Pathways to Employment

For the last nine years, Love Howick NPC has been committed to building dignity, opportunity, and empowerment in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. A central part of this mission is our professional skills development training programs, which equip young people and adults alike with the technical, personal competencies and character they need to thrive in the workplace.

A distinctive feature of our approach is that every graduate gain practical, real-life workplace experience during their training with designated, reputable businesses that are part of our program. This ensures that students not only understand theory but can also demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and applied skills in real business contexts. As a result, many employers can see first-hand the value of these graduates, and some choose to hire them upon completion.

This outcome is not manufactured or directed by Love Howick—it is the independent choice of businesses, which make recruitment decisions based on performance, potential, and merit. The fact that so many local companies choose Love Howick graduates as their preferred candidates is evidence of the strength of our training model and the calibre of the individuals within it.

After graduation, all students who receive a gold or silver status completion certificate have the option to register on our referral database. This allows a local employer looking for quality candidates to fill temporary, contract or permanent positions to make use of this free service. This again is aimed at promoting people who show themselves as exemplary candidates who will make a positive contribution to an organisation’s mission.

It is important to note that Love Howick’s programs are not designed to create exclusivity or barriers for non-students in the local economy. Rather, they exist to open pathways to meaningful employment for people who might otherwise remain excluded. The success of our graduates simply demonstrates what is possible when training, mentorship, and real-world exposure come together effectively.

We believe that when training programs work, the entire community benefits—businesses gain competent employees, young people access dignified work, and the broader economy grows stronger. Love Howick is proud to serve as a conduit for developing local talent, motivated solely by our vision of building stronger communities and opportunities for all people in the KZN Midlands.

We encourage all employers and job seekers to aim for excellence and thus improve the quality of service and professionalism within the Midlands business environment. This means we all win in the end.
