JOB CENTER at a Glance

The Love Howick Job Centre aims to provide a ‘bridge’ between job seekers who have graduated from the various Job Readiness Programmes offered by the Dream Centre and prospective local employers.

Streamlined Employment Solutions for Employers and Job Seekers

Employers can now access a pool of high-quality candidates to fill entry-level positions (part-time or full-time), short-term contracts, or internships within their organisation. These candidates are carefully trained, vetted, and quality-assured by our dedicated team. This vital support system not only provides job seekers with cost-effective and efficient access to opportunities in one centralised platform but also ensures employers find the right talent to meet their needs.

• No-Fuss Employment Solutions
Filling entry-level vacancies can often lead employers to rely on low-cost, informal methods, such as asking current employees to recommend someone they know. While this may seem convenient, it can result in less-than-ideal hires, leading to negative consequences for the organisation. Our professional service offers a low-cost, time-efficient solution, ensuring that both part-time and full-time positions are filled with candidates who are the right fit for your organisation. Additionally, we maintain a steady supply of quality temporary staff, ready to start at short notice.

• Open Communication and Continuous Improvement
We believe in maintaining open communication with employers throughout the hiring process. Unlike services that simply place candidates and hope for the best, we actively engage with employers, seeking feedback to refine our programmes and address any challenges that may arise. This collaborative approach ensures that both employers and job seekers benefit from our services.

• Our Goal: Win-Win Employment Solutions
Our goal is to create mutually beneficial outcomes for employers and job seekers alike. By providing reliable, quality-assured candidates and fostering open communication, we aim to streamline the hiring process and support long-term success for all parties involved.

VALUED-ADDED APPROACH

Workplace Skills Incubator: Job seekers are enrolled in various training courses designed to help them develop the skills, mindset, and character needed to add value to their future workplaces. Selected graduates are then enrolled in mentorship programmes with business leaders to enhance their learning and ensure essential emotional intelligence (EQ) development.
Workplace Experience Provided: During both phases of training, job seekers participate in volunteer programmes and workplace practicals. These opportunities allow them to serve in environments aligned with their career goals, enabling skills transfer, boosting confidence, and helping them assess the right fit for their future careers.
Only Excellent Candidates Referred: Our reputation and expertise in this field mean employers trust us to provide only the best candidates. Through our Gold, Silver, Bronze Certificates, candidates are assessed at every stage of their training and graded for excellence on a sliding scale. This means that when we refer a candidate, their Certificate status will give you peace of mind that some type of quality assessment has been done by us.
No-Fuss Employment Solutions: For entry-level vacancies, employers often resort to low-cost solutions, such as inviting current employees to recommend someone for an interview. This can lead to less-than-ideal hires and negative consequences. We offer a low-cost, time-sensitive, and professional service to fill both part-time and full-time positions with greater certainty of the right fit. We also maintain a steady supply of quality temporary staff ready to start at short notice.
Open Communication: We don’t just place candidates and hope for the best. We maintain regular communication with employers, gathering valuable feedback to improve our programmes and address any issues that arise.

JOB CENTRE PROCEDURES

1. Employer Request: Employers seeking suitable candidates to fill vacancies should email specific details to jobcentre@lovehowick.org.za. This includes the job advert, the number of CVs required, interview details, and any additional criteria for prospective candidates. Please ensure relevant contact details are provided.
2. Candidate Search: Relevant criteria will be used to search the Love Howick JobCentre database to provide the employer with quality candidates for interviews. The Job Centre will arrange interviews with shortlisted candidates based on the details supplied. An admin fee of R850.00 per vacancy will be charged for this service.
3. Feedback and Donation: Employers provide feedback to the Job Centre on successful appointments or request further candidates for interviews. For each successful candidate, employers are encouraged to make a donation towards the Workplace Skills Incubator, payable 30 days after the candidate completes one month of successful employment. This ‘pay-it-forward’ approach helps another person trapped in the cycle of poverty access training and mentorship (the approximate cost to train a job seeker is R1800.00).
4. Temporary Workers: Employers can request suitable temporary candidates from the Job Centre at short notice. This service is charged at an agreed labour rate plus a 15% admin fee, as we handle all HR and admin tasks associated with the placement.
